Staff Associate (Part-Time)
Overview:
The Oberlin Community Land Trust, incorporated in 2019, is a non-profit organization working to create affordable housing as a key to improving the economy, environment, and quality of life for communities in Lorain County. We are membership-based, with donors and homeowners having a stake in major decisions and leadership. Using a model of community land ownership, the OCLT holds title to the land underlying the units we develop in order to permanently preserve their affordability to low- and moderate-income Oberlin residents. Membership is made up of OCLT homeowners and general members (residents who do not live on the program’s land).
Compensation:
Pay scale for the position is $25-30/hour, negotiable depending on the candidate’s experience,averaging ten hours a week. This position is part-time but may convert to full-time in the futuredepending on OCLT’s needs and resources. Location: hybrid.
Essential Functions:
Paired with a working Board of Directors, the Staff Associate will provide administrative support
for the organization, helping the OCLT to achieve its mission. Principal responsibilities include
support for fund-raising, communications, and other administrative tasks. The Staff Associate
will develop familiarity with trends in issues related to nonprofits and land trusts. The Staff
Associate maintains and expands strong relationships with our members, donors, and the OCLT
board.
Specific Duties:
FUNDRAISING
- Research, identify, draft proposals for funding from private and public sources,
- Work with the OCLT board to identify and execute development programs, including
planned giving and campaigns
- Maintain OCLT’s membership and donor database
MANAGEMENT
- Work with the Board President to coordinate the efforts of the Board of Directors,
including planning, governance, and help recruit and develop new Directors
RELATIONSHIPS & COMMUNICATIONS
- Help articulate a vision for our regional mission and oversee the expansion of the
organization’s outreach
- Maintain positive working relationships with a wide range of partners and stakeholders
- Represent the OCLT to a variety of audiences, including volunteers, members, and other
partners
- Demonstrate community awareness when conducting OCLT affairs
Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:
- Post-secondary education and/or comparable, measurable experience in a related field
- Proficiency in written and oral communication
- Familiarity with fundraising programs, including grant writing
- Demonstrated organizational, budget planning, and time-management skills
- Proven experience functioning effectively as a member of a team and comfortable
partnering with a diverse range of volunteers, including OCLT’s Board of Directors and
other stakeholders
- Interest in the work of the Oberlin Community Land Trust
